I really liked Sonia’s character too. When I first started watching SSO, I admit I thought of her as “eh, just an evil character, okay.” but then you learn more about her, her backstory, like you said and you just really feel for her. Also pitied her for having to deal with a step-mother like Medea. At the end of it all I just really wanted to give her a big hug… It would’ve been nice to see a moment even between her and her father, before he was killed after the fight with Eden and Kouga.

It still bothers me a little that even with the 7th Sense Souma still couldn’t save her from her own attack. I believe Sonia deserved a happier ending then what she got… but with the death of her father and Medea, who knows how she would be, emotionally and mentally. Though it felt like they were setting her up to end up on the Bronze Saints’ team, but then the Scorpio Cloth leaves her…

(And of course, I’ll continue to ship Souma/Sonia too, dangit. Complications aside, it feels like they would be a really good couple.)

 

I agree, Sonia was one of SSO Season I’s highlights.

She wasn’t just Shaina 2.0. She was her own character, yes the whole Sonia/Soma dynamic pulled some notes from Seiya/Shaina but they were unique and not just copying the past series.

Sonia defiantly will go down in SS lore as one of the best female characters in the franchise.

I also saw that Seiya/Shaina vibe in the Souma/Sonia interaction, but as you said they were unique. It developted into a  different kind of relationship and I loved it as much as it hurt  and I  ship Souma/Sonia too XD

I miss Sonia too. Feels like there could’ve been a bit more potential there…

And heck yes, more Shaina. Would be nice to see more of her as time goes on. Hopefully she’ll be fighting with Kouga and the others…

I really really liked Sonia, Many people say SSO is flawed, and maybe its not perfect, but Sonia was one of the things that I think they did a good job at. I really liked her story, how tragic it was, how strong she seemed to be  but how fragile she actually was in the inside. How Family was such a big thing in her life, how she pushed herself to the limit.  I loved it all . But her death really pained me and thats because I cared for her, for her character.  And with all that I have to say that ep 40 is my fav epsiode in SSO so far, I love how simbolic it all was, Sonia being the Scorpio Gold Saint and Souma representing fire. I will stop now before this ends up being an essay about why I loved Sonias Character so much. :D

You can never have enough Shaina. Since Next Dimension opened the door for the Golden Ophiuchus Cloth….its time for Omega to pounce on it!.

Plus will it kill Toei to give Seiya and Shaina one scene together? 56 episodes and they’ve yet to be in the same scene together! Outside of flashbacks of course.

Also I miss Sonia too :(

Who I am kidding, I just started watching SSO because Shaina ( and kinda because yuna eh and a little bit because paradox, but mostly shaina) and stayed because Sonia.
